CEO Brown to Retire

Service One Credit Union announced the retirement of its longtime President/CEO Valerie C. Brown after 34 years of service.

Brown‘s credit union career began in 1978 as manager of Western Kentucky University Credit Union. The credit union, now known as Service One Credit Union, emerged from a $400,000 enterprise operating from a small office in the Faculty House at WKU, to the largest locally based credit union in Bowling Green with over $117 million in assets and four branch offices. “So much change has happened in financial services and technology over the past 34 years,” said Brown. “I have enjoyed collaborating with our credit union’s Board, employees and members to help lead these advancements at Service One Credit Union.”

Currently serving an appointment on the Kentucky Department of Financial Institution’s Board of Directors, Brown has also served on numerous boards and committees at the local, state and national levels.

Having completed both her bachelor’s and master’ at WKU, Brown has participated on committees and boards within WKU, as well as service to local community and civic organizations.

“It has always been a priority to serve and volunteer in the community,” said Brown.
