Privacy Notice Bill Vote Canceled

A vote that was expected Tuesday on H.R. 5817, which would eliminate the requirement of financial institutions to send a privacy notice disclosure by mail each year, was pushed back to Wednesday and then canceled.

According to the official House of Representatives record of proceedings, Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.V.) Wednesday asked to withdraw her motion to suspend House rules and take the bill to a vote.

However, NAFCU is reporting that the bill could make the floor agenda next week under another suspension of House rules. The problem, NAFCU said, has to do with the bill’s language.
