Credit Unions in Pennsylvania, Texas and Massachusetts Named Top Workplaces

Four credit unions have recently been named as “top workplaces” by their local business magazines and newspapers.

The $1.15 billion American Heritage Federal Credit Union was named one of the top 10 best places to work among large businesses by the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The Philadelphia-based credit union was one of hundreds to enter, securing its position on the list based on the strength of its company culture, benefits, and programs as evaluated by American Heritage FCU employees. This is the sixth consecutive year the credit union has been named a winner in the competition.

The $753 million Texas Trust Credit Union in Mansfield joined the ranks of Dallas-Fort Worth's top companies to work for in the fourth annual Dallas Morning News Top 100 Places to Work 2012.

Texas Trust, the only credit union in the Top 100, was selected based on independent employee surveys that ranked the credit union based on its executive leadership, opportunities for professional advancement, work conditions, benefits and workplace flexibility.

The $716 million United Heritage Credit Union in Austin, Texas, won a spot on the 2012 Top Workplace list in the greater Austin area, according to an employee survey sponsored by the Austin American-Statesmen newspaper and Workplace Dynamics, a Pennsylvania-based employee engagement research firm. This marks the third consecutive year United Heritage has been awarded the Top Workplace honor.

WorkplaceDynamics surveyed United Heritage employees and asked them to anonymously evaluate the organization on the quality of leadership, how employees are treated and compensated, if the work is rewarding and other important factors related to job satisfaction. The survey responses ranked United Heritage ninth among the top 30 mid-sized businesses in the Austin area.

The Worcester Business Journal in Massachusetts recently named two credit unions to its 2012 Top Workplaces list.

The $362 million Central One FCU in Shrewsbury was recognized for its employee wellness programs, including its mental health services that allow employees up to six free visits to a mental health provider.

The $891 million Workers’ Credit Union in Fitchburg was named to the publication’s list for its innovative benefits program, which includes birthdays off, a movie night out for employees and their families, employee appreciation luncheons and paid time off for employees to do community or charity work.
