Aunt Sophie Keeps Motorcycle, Georgia Member Wins $10,000

One lucky member of Georgia United Credit Union had the chance to win $10,000 or Aunt Sophie’s motorcycle.

The $940 million credit union in Duluth, Ga., recently held its “Win Aunt Sophie’s Motorcycle promotion for members who applied for a loan between July 16 and Nov. 1. No purchase was necessary and all members who applied during that period were automatically entered.

Georgia United said it had some fun with the promotion with its spokesperson, Aunt Sophie.

“Aunt Sophie represents financially savvy relatives everywhere. And, she dispenses financial predictions and advice like, ‘High loan rates are about to be road kill,’” the credit union said.

The motorcycle drawing took place from among all entries received by Nov. 1 and the winner was chosen Nov. 9.

Valorie Hammock from Grayson, Ga., who came to the credit union for her auto loan, was the winner. She chose the $10,000 prize rather than the motorcycle.

Hammock is an aesthetic technician with Gwinnett Dermatology, one of the local select employee groups served by Georgia United, the credit union said.

Georgia United said it had a record year in consumer and mortgage loans during 2012 and was able to offer rates as low as 1.99% APR for new and used car loans.
