Alan Cameron Sets 2013 Retirement Date From Idaho League

After working in the credit union industry for more than 35 years, Idaho Credit Union League President/CEO Alan Cameron said he plans to retire June 30, 2013.

Cameron has served as ICUL’s president/CEO and its wholly owned subsidiary, League Services Inc., since 2000. He also worked as ICUL’s retained legal counsel and lobbyist since 1977.

During his tenure, the league said, Cameron has fought for the rights of more than one-half million Idaho credit union members and their credit unions, and served national and international members through the league’s partnership with the credit unions of the Solomon Islands.

He also served on numerous committees and task forces for CUNA, including the Consumer Protection Subcommittee and the State Issues Advocacy Committee of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues, which Cameron also served.

He was also a member of the Federal Reserve Board’s Consumer Advisory Council for three years.  In Idaho, Cameron served as treasurer of the Hispanic Financial Education Coalition, treasurer of the Consumer Information Council, and was on the board of the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Idaho for more than twenty years.

“I’m honored to have worked with Alan Cameron. His strong leadership and positive influence on the credit union industry has been widely felt,” said ICUL Chair Brent Neibaur, CEO at Advantage Plus FCU in Pocatello. “Alan will be dearly missed, but we wish him well in all his endeavors.”

Cameron said his plans following his June 30 retirement include recreational travel with his wife, Janet, without the need for a watch, schedule or necktie.
