Saving Halloween

The $168 million Champion Credit Union in Canton, N.C., helped bring Halloween to school after unpredictable weather and school delays from Hurricane Sandy kept kindergartners from participating in the downtown trick-or-treating. So credit union staffers packed up treat bags and took them to class, with Explore Account mascot Kaycie the Kangaroo in tow.

“We love when the children come to the credit union.  We dress up and enjoy ourselves as much as they do,” says Noralynn Grindstaff, the 21,700-member credit union’s marketing and communications manager.  “We were just as disappointed that they couldn’t make it, so we wanted to find a way to still share this with them.”

“Champion Credit Union went out of their way to send some special visitors with Halloween goodies for our kids,” says Whitney Trull, Meadowbrook Kindergarten teacher.  “Our kids were so excited to see a kangaroo, a hunter, and a spider at our door!  We can’t thank them enough.”
