NCUA’s Ongoing Reg Relief Could Cancel Some 2013 Board Meetings

The NCUA isn’t ruling out the possibility it may cancel board meetings next year, as it did in 2012 in the months of February, April and June.

NCUA Public Affairs Specialist John Fairbanks said the Regulatory Relief Initiative remains ongoing – as part of its regulatory relief effort, the NCUA this year wrote new regulations to lessen the burden on credit unions, and slowed the pace of proposed and finalized regs. The initiative resulted in the canceled meetings.

“We publish this schedule so people can get these meetings on their calendars,” Fairbanks said. “They are subject to change or cancelation as may be desirable or necessary.”

All board meetings are on Thursdays, with the open meetings scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. The 2013 dates are as follows: Jan. 10; Feb. 21; March 14; April 18; May 16; June 20; July 25; Sept. 12; Oct. 24; Nov. 21; and Dec. 12.
