Texell Credit Union Relaunches Marketing Outreach to Kids
Credit unions are always looking for new or fresh ways to make an impression on members, including their kids.
That’s why the $183 million Texell Credit Union in Temple, Texas, decided to retire a former Kid’s Club and mascot, Moola, to make way for a new group called the Dollar Squad Kids’ Club.
With characters named Cash, Savvy, Earnie, Charity, Spendy and Mooch, Texell is hoping the new Dollar Squad Kids’ Club will project a fresh, modern image to attract the interest of kids under 12.
“Our Dollar Squad Kids’ Club offers children a fun and engaging way to start learning an important life skill,” said Tony Hale, Texell’s president/CEO. “The more kids understand about saving and managing money now the better the payoff is later for both children and their parents.”
Through Texell’s Dollar Squad Kids’ Club, parents can teach children sound money management with activities designed to make saving fun. For example, for each $1 deposit, children earn one Squad Dollar that he or she can save and redeem for prizes at any branch of the 29,200-member Texell CU.
Dollar Squad account holders also receive a quarterly newsletter, birthday greetings, and are invited to special events. In addition, custom coloring books are available to all Dollar Squad Kids’ Club members.
