The NCUA said Tuesday it has issued orders prohibiting three individuals from participating in the affairs of any federally insured financial institution after they were convicted of fraud, misapplied funds and theft.
Eugene Telfair, former president of the $21 million Florida A&M Federal Credit Union in Tallahassee, Fla., was convicted of conspiracy to steal or misapplying funds from an organization that receives federal assistance and misapplying funds as a credit union employee.
According to court documents, Telfair and another credit union employee, Robert Nixon, were accused of skimming funds from grants awarded to the institution. Despite an appeal, the court upheld the sentence in April 2012. Telfair was sentenced to 30 months in prison, three years of supervised release and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $134,255.15.
Billie Jean Collins, a former employee of the $81 million Windward Community Federal Credit Union in Kailua, Hawaii, was convicted of bank fraud. Collins was sentenced to four months in prison, five years of supervised release and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $65,336.
Glenna Gouza, a former employee of the $203 million USX Federal Credit Union in Sarver, Pa., was convicted of theft by unlawful taking. Gouza was sentenced to 36 months of probation, ordered to perform 100 hours community service and pay restitution in the amount of $4,000.
