The $141 million XCEL Federal Credit Union in Bloomfield, N.J.., is now offering its members mobile banking on their iPhones, iPads, Androids, Kindle Fires and other devices that support HTML5, the credit union said.
Functionality includes account access, branch and ATM locators, Facebook and Twitter connections, current rates information, educational videos and the ability to chat with credit union staff, XCEL said.
The apps are from FI-MOBILE of Round Rock, Texas, and nearly 120 members signed up to use them in their first week, said the credit union’s chief information officer, Michael Mahiya. He said planned upgrades include bill pay and remote deposit checking.
The credit union said XCEL member Erin Quigley was the fourth person to sign up. “The install took seconds to complete. And it’s really easy. I’m able to check my balances before I use my XCEL debit card. That saves me time and money. It’s great,” she said.
