The Langley Food Bank has reaped the benefits of spring planting undertaken from April to June by elementary school students in Langley, British Columbia, through Nature’s Classroom. The program was funded by a $14,000 donation from Envision Financial in partnership with the Langley Environmental Partners Society and Maples Discovery Gardens, which hosted the plantings. Staff from Envisions Financial, a division of the $6.6 billion First West Credit Union, helped harvest the produce while the students were on summer break.
“Nature’s Classroom provides local students with a great learning opportunity, while allowing them to give back to those in need in their community,” said Barb McKeown, branch manager at Envision Financial’s Langley City location. “This ties in with our organization’s commitment to make a meaningful difference in our local communities and to promote lifelong learning and greater environmental awareness.”
