VACU RDC Uptick

Virginia CU Reaches 1,000 RDC Users

More than 1,000 of the 219,700 members of the $2.3 billion Virginia Credit Union deposited a check using their smartphones in July, the Richmond, Va., credit union said.

That’s the most in a month since VACU began offering mobile remote deposit capture in April, the credit union said.

VACU now has 1,500 members signed up to use the service, which was deployed using technology from VSoft Corp. of Atlanta, the credit union said.

The RDC service supports iPhones and Android devices and VACU is the first local credit union or community bank in Virginia’s capital city to offer it, the credit union said.

“VACU moved quickly to offer this service because of the rapid adoption of mobile banking by its members,” said Frank Macrina, vice president for e-Services. He said VACU has been an early adopter of electronic services, offering online banking and bill pay since 1997.
