The $46 million Secure First Credit Union of Birmingham, Ala., which lost part of its roof and the upper floor of its main office in a rare January twister, will celebrate the building re-opening in a ribbon-cutting ceremony July 19.
Secure First’s president/CEO, Jordan Sullivan, expressed special gratitude to his staff for continuing to operate in the facility during reconstruction and to the $1.2 billion Pen Air FCU of Pensacola, Fla. which donated a mobile trailer, still in use in front of Secure’s once-damaged main office.
“We are grateful that no one was injured and the credit union has been able to operate after sustaining such considerable damage,” said Sullivan.
Computer files and other data on the second floor remained intact but operations areas in the building were destroyed.
Sullivan said the credit union will mark July 19 with festivities that include food, door prizes and other giveaways.
Secure First has 9,000 members and 22 employees and serves Jefferson, Blount, Shelby, Tuscaloosa and Walker counties. Its two branches in North Birmingham and Brookwood were not damaged in the January storm. A new Gardendale branch is set to open on Aug.1, noted Sullivan.
