Sandy King of Llano, Texas, got a nice return on her $5 donation to the second annual United Heritage Charity Foundation auto raffle earlier this month. Her donation and all the others totaled $47,865 for local charities and organizations and she won the 2012 Honda Civic.

The foundation was created in 2003 and has since distributed more than $1 million. The raffle winner was drawn amid much fanfare at the $694 million Austin credit union’s Manchaca branch.

“I’m so glad I made the drive to the Georgetown branch on my daughter’s birthday in early May. We were running errands in town and thought we’d swing by to get tickets. I only had a $5 bill but figured it was a lucky day and it was! When I got the call, I couldn’t believe it – I thought it was a telemarketer at first,” Sandy King said.
