The $377 million BrightStar Credit Union of Sunrise, Fla., is a sponsor of the “Fabulous Forties on the Avenue” exhibit at the Broward County Library African American Research Library & Cultural Center. The exhibit focuses on Fort Lauderdale's Northwest 5th Avenue neighborhood of the late 1940s, a place where generations of African American families learned to survive and thrive while eventually overcoming segregation.

This exhibit shows a typical home from the 1940s in the Northwest 5th Avenue neighborhood.

 The Victory Theatre is a place to cool off and watch film clips from the era.
