Municipal Credit Union honored the civil servants of the Big Apple by sponsoring Civil Service Appreciation Day at the St. John’s University basketball game against UCLA on Feb. 18. St. John’s won the game 66-63 and St. John’s University Advantage Academy walked away with a $5,000 donation from the $1.7 billion, 328,000-member MCU. The academy is a partnership between the school and the New York City Department of Homeless Services that enables qualified individuals from homeless and formerly homeless, single-parent families to gain the skills and confidence to break the cycle of poverty through education, counseling and social support.
