Richard Orr and Susie Venable have been confirmed as members of the Credit Union Commission following a hearing for the Missouri Senate Gubernatorial Appointments Committee.
Orr retired as CEO of Central Missouri Community Credit Union, Warrensburg, in 2007 after 25 years of service. As CEO, he brought the company from $5 million in assets in 1982 to $50 million in 2007 and established two new branch offices.
“I appreciate being confirmed, and I volunteered for this position because I believe I have something to contribute,” said Orr. “I believe in credit unions, and this is another opportunity to support them and stay involved.”
Venable is the president of Saint Luke’s Credit Union, Kansas City, where she started as a teller in 1977. She became president in 1984 and has grown the credit union, which now maintains four branch locations, serving the Saint Luke's Hospital Medical Community. In addition to her work at the credit union, Venable serves on multiple boards and credit union groups.
“I am honored to serve on the commission to represent credit unions of Missouri and to work in the best interest of all,” said Venable. “I’m also looking forward to serving with my peers, Kathy Stroud, Hal James and my good friend who is retired, Richard Orr.”
The Credit Union Commission will review regulations proposed by the director of the Missouri Division of Credit Unions, hear and determine any appeal from an order or decision by the director pertaining to the chartering, relocation, branching or membership of credit unions and consult with and advise the director on matters pertaining to the organization, operation and supervision of credit unions.
