NCUA Names FDIC Lawyer as Deputy General Counsel

Lara K. Rodríguez, a counselor in the FDIC’s Special Issues Unit, has been named the NCUA’s deputy general counsel, the agency announced Monday.

Rodriguez, who will run the office’s day-to-day operations and be the agency’s chief Freedom of Information officer, succeeds Michael McKenna who recently succeeded Robert Fenner as the agency’s general counsel.

Before joining the FDIC she was a partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, where she practiced structured finance law.

NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz said in a statement that Rodriguez’s “background, providing legal counsel on complex financial issues in both the public and private sectors, will enhance our Office of General Counsel. We look forward to working with her.”
