The 107-member Houston Chapter of Credit Unions recently donated more than 3,500 pounds of much-needed food to the Houston Food Bank, and added a sizable monetary donation to boot. The 2011 Summer Food Drive began June 21 and wrapped up at the chapter's Business Partner Expo on Aug. 16. “The Houston Food Bank was shocked at the amount of food we donated,” said Sonia Hartman, assistant controller at Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union and chairperson for the drive. She said special thanks was due to Enterprise Car Sales, which provided the transportation to truck the non-perishable goods to the food bank. Volunteers from Houston credit unions also pitched in to do the lugging.
