An Android app is the latest electronic banking offering from Navy Federal Credit Union.
Functions include balances, recent transactions, transfers, interest rate and payment calculators and branch and ATM locators, as well as a currency converter targeted for military personnel to use while stationed overseas.
Now available in the Android Market, the app was created by EffectiveUI, the Denver design and development firm that also produced the $46 billion credit union’s iPhone app last year.
“The Android app is the next step in our mobile strategy as we look to make it easier for our members to manage their Navy Federal accounts,” said Julie Griffin, the Virginia-based credit union’s vice president of eServices. “Because member convenience is one of our top priorities, it was important that we focus on making the app as useful, simple and seamless as possible.”
The new app already has been downloaded 20,000 times, the 3.7 million-member credit union said.
“This new app is tailor made for Navy Federal members on the Android platform–a recipe for the best possible brand experience,” said Rebecca Flavin, CEO of EffectiveUI, whose clients also have included National Geographic, AAA, Boeing and eBay.
