Editor's Note: We reported Thursday that Thursday was the deadline. It's today. We apologize for the error.
Today is the deadline for credit unions to pledge their commitment to the NCUA's proposed prepayment plan for the rescue of the corporate credit union system.
The agency has said the program will only go forward if it receives $500 million in commitments.
The agency will announce on Aug. 9 whether it has received that amount.
The NCUA Board is scheduled to hold a special meeting on Aug. 29 at which it will announce the assessments to credit unions to pay off part of the loan that the Temporary Corporate Credit Union Stabilization Fund took out from the Treasury Department.
