Smart Financial CU Rolls Out Mobile Apps

Users of all three of the major mobile device platforms will find a home in the new service rolled out by the $470 million Smart Financial Credit Union in Houston.

The mobile service is free and available to current or previous enrollees in the credit union’s home banking service. Apps are available for Apple, Android and BlackBerry devices, created by MShift Inc., a Silicon Valley-based mobile banking technology provider.

More than 3,100 members of the credit union’s 78,000 members have signed up for the mobile service in its first month and nearly 45% of them have used the service more than 10 times since then, Smart Financial said.

"This is the first phase of our mobile offering and there will be future service enhancements rolled out for this new and emerging service delivery channel," said Corbin Wilson, the credit union’s vice president of electronic member services.

Smart Financial has 17 office locations and serves more than 300 private companies, educators, medical professionals and residents of Fort Bend, Harris and Montgomery counties.
