Truliant Offers Free Income Tax Assistance to Members

Truliant Federal Credit Union is hosting a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site at its headquarters in Winston-Salem, N.C., through April 16. VITA is a free tax preparation service for families who make up to $49,000 a year.

The VITA program is sponsored by the Forsyth Working Families Partnership and assists local communities to help eligible families collect the Earned Income Tax Credit, a federal benefit particularly for families with children.

Truliant employees who are IRS certified through the program are volunteering their time to provide members with this free service, including electronic filing for quick refund as well as resources for savings and home ownership.

The $1.4 billion Truliant was chartered in 1952 and now serves more than 180,000 members in North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio and Virginia.
