Bachus to Speak at GAC
House Financial Services Committee Chairman-Elect Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.) will speak at CUNA's Governmental Affairs Conference, the association announced.
Bachus, who will take over the panel's top job when the Republican-controlled Congress takes control next month, has said that the key priorities include reforming Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and overseeing the implementation of the financial overhaul bill passed earlier this year over the objections of an overwhelming majority of Republicans.
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), who circulated a letter urging House-Senate conferees to remove an amendment giving the Fed the power to regulate interchange fees, will also speak, CUNA said.
The GAC is scheduled to take place at the Washington Convention Center from Feb. 27-March 3.
