Organizers of Cherry Blossom Run Hoping For Fundraising Record
Sponsors of next year's Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run are hoping it will bring the 10-year total raised to more than $5 million.
The credit union movement has sponsored the race, which is scheduled to be held on April 3, 2011, for the past 10 years. Funds raised are donated to children's hospitals through the Children's Miracle Network.
"This is the Credit Union Movement's 10th year as sponsor," said Juri Valdov, chairman of Credit Union Miracle Day, the lead sponsor of the event. "And involvement by credit unions across the country continues to grow. The generosity of the credit union movement and commitment to local community is astonishing; this event brings that message home to our nation's Capital."
Last year's race involved 70 credit unions and 25 business partner organizations and CUSOs representing all 50 states. Nearly 15,000 runners participated in the run, including more than 622 legislators, aides and government employees.
