As a longtime credit union activist and a board member, I appreciate your publication, which gives us timely news.
In your Nov. 3 issue, your Guest Opinion writer, Stuart R. Levine, hit the nail on the head with his intelligent and perceptive comments regarding board member responsibilities.
We have to finally realize that being a director is more than attending meetings and events but a position requiring serious study and decision making.
We cannot allow credit unions to be directed by well-meaning part-timers who lack experience and expertise.
With possible taxing of credit unions by the new Congress, payment to directors should be considered now.
By the way, what is your take on credit union taxation by the new Republican House majority? They are certainly looking for new tax sources.
