Thanksgiving has been celebrated in its most basic form at AEA Federal Credit Union.
Thousands of the Yuma, Ariz.-based members and staffers took time to jot down notes describing all they are thankful for this Thanksgiving season.
Pads of notes with the headline, "I am thankful for..." were placed at all AEA Federal CU teller windows along with markers and rolls of tape to make it easier for members write and post their notes on teller counters.
The wallpaper of handwritten notes of thanks have ranged from being thankful for the cool weather and Starbucks to loving families, caring teachers and freedom. One whose family has been dealing with a personal hardship commented that reading the notes of thanks posted by others has been comforting.
Members have even asked to take pads of "I am thankful for" notes to their schools and churches.
"Taking time to appreciate all we have puts life's daily challenges in perspective. The thousands of notes covering our walls are poignant reminders of all there is to be thankful for this year," said Denise Sweet-McGregor, AEA interim CEO.
