Orange County Credit Union's new mobile banking service drew the attention of nearly 3% of its 78,000 members within two weeks of its recent launch, the Santa Ana, Calif., institution said.
And more than 55% of them used at least two of the three delivery modes (text, mobile Web browser or downloadable app), according to platform provider Tyfone Inc. of Portland, Ore.
OCCU's downloadable apps are being offered through the Android Marketplace and the iPhone App Store, the credit union said.
"As OCCU looks to the future, we see mobile banking as a mission critical component of our service delivery strategy," said Laura Thompson, chief information officer at the $949 million OCCU.
OCCU offers membership to anyone who lives or works in Orange or Riverside counties, and the neighboring communities of Long Beach, Signal Hills, Lakewood and Cerritos.
