Pittsburgh CU Commits to Sharetec

The $74 million Pittsburgh Firefighters Federal Credit Union plans to convert to a GBS/Sharetec core processing solution, the company and credit union said.

The credit union cited disaster recovery capabilities, additional member services, automation of manual tasks and improved efficiencies in its decision to convert, according to GBS, a North Canton, Ohio, distributor of the Sharetec platform.

The Sharetec platform from Sharetec Systems Inc. of Lino Lakes, Minn., is now in use at more than 300 credit unions and is wholly owned by its distributors, the company said.

The 5,600-member Pennsylvania institution currently runs on a Fiserv CUSA platform, according to the Callahan & Associates Technology Survey.

GBS is a 40-year-old provider of technology, labeling, filing and document management solutions, the company said.
