Golden 1 Helps Fire-Ravaged Food Bank

The Golden 1 Credit Union donated $5,000 to the River City Food Bank in Sacramento after it burned down on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 21.

"Golden 1 has been a longtime supporter of organizations in the communities we serve," said Donna Bland, interim president and CEO. "We are saddened by this turn of events and decided to take immediate action."

The food bank, which serves 36,000 people a year, lost 8,000 pounds of food in the four-alarm fire, but has received donations from many organizations in the community during the past week.

"With the holidays just around the corner, we know the food bank is going to face increased demand," Bland added. "Golden 1 is committed to helping River City Food Bank meet that demand and challenges all other area businesses to help in this time of great need."

The credit union is also holding a canned food drive at its offices in the Sacramento area.
