FIS Touts Chartway Mobile Signing

Chartway Federal Credit Union in Virginia Beach, Va., has added mobile banking to the services it buys from FIS, the company and credit union said.

The Jacksonville, Fla., company said its mobile banking platform provides text, mobile Web and downloadable applications for smartphones, as well as seamless, secure access across credit and debit processing, online banking and mobile channels.

Chartway said it already uses FIS for ATM and debit card processing and electronic banking. The new service will add the ability to check balances, move funds and receive alerts via mobile device.

"Adoption of mobile banking has far exceeded our expectations since we launched it in July, especially with our members who are using an Apple iPhone," said Rick Richter, vice president of technology at $1.8 billion Chartway.
