Warning on Scam Calls
A suburban Chicago credit union is warning its members about fraudulent, recorded phone calls aimed at obtaining account information.
The message falsely claims to be from $148 million KCT Credit Union in Elgin, Ill., and directs recipients to call another number, where they're asked to provide personal account information.
"We see a number of attempts like this each year throughout the financial services industry and elsewhere," said Kristine Kowalski, vice president of marketing. "This particular attempt is using KCT Credit Union's name when contacting our members."
