Allpoint Announces Deal With Kroger

Credit unions belonging to the Allpoint network will now be able to offer their members fee-free ATM access to 800 Kroger stores across the country, according to Allpoint owner Cardtronics.

Cardtronics is the largest independent ATM deployer in the country and the owner of the Allpoint network. Kroger owns more than 2,400 supermarket and other retail stores across the country under a variety of brands, but this deal would only impact machines in Kroger branded stores, the company said.

Allpoint offers credit unions and banks fee-free ATM access for their members in exchange for a flat fee based on the size of their card base.

"Kroger is one of the most respected retailers operating in the grocery and convenience industry today with a store footprint that covers much of the nation," said Rick Updyke, Cardtronics' president of Global Development. "Cardtronics, with its nationwide presence, is uniquely positioned to provide Kroger with a complete financial kiosk management solution, thanks to our in-house transaction processing platform, monitoring and control centers, and superior customer service capabilities. Cardtronics will also provide Kroger with opportunities to increase store foot traffic by including the ATMs in our Allpoint surcharge-free network and by providing customized ATM bank branding programs. We are proud to add a premier retailer such as Kroger to the Cardtronics family of merchant clients."
