The positive press about credit unions continued this morning during a segment on ABC's Good Morning America.
As part of her Savings Makeovers series airing this month, GMA Consumer Correspondent Elisabeth Leamy and McGraw-Hill Federal Credit Union helped an East Windsor, N.J. family, the Shoblocks find $108,602 in savings.
Leamy not only shopped around for better prices on everything from cell phone providers to groceries, but also provided saving tips for credit cards, student loans, and even medical procedures. She then turned to McGraw-Hill FCU for big expenses such as their car loan, credit card debt, and mortgage. With help from their local credit union, the family was able to consolidate their credit cards and refinance their mortgage and car loans at a much lower rate.
In working with McGraw-Hill FCU, Leamy was, "once again reminded what phenomenal resources credit unions are." Her advice, "find a way to join a credit union."
