Aid for Tornado Victims

Toledo area credit unions have been fundraising to help victims of the recent tornadoes that ravaged rural communities in Wood County, Ohio, and severely damaged the offices of the $8.9 million Woodco FCU of Millbury.

Leading the drive to assist scores of members in the area was the Northwest Chapter of the Ohio Credit Union League, which deployed branch and online vehicles to drum up support for a shared branch/joint checking account.

"We just got started this week with two of us working together opening up the account raising $1,300, and now we hope to get more participants," said Melissa Gregg, senior marketing specialist at the $369 million Sun FCU of Maumee, Ohio. Joining in that effort was the $139 million Fremont FCU.
