Ohio Names Ex-Banker as CU Regulator

Ohio Governor Ted Strickland has named a former banker to be that state's next CU regulator.

Carolyn Bradford will oversee banks, CUs, trust firms, and other depository institutions and succeeds John Reardon, the former Mahoning County treasurer who left the job in May to return to Youngstown.

Bradford, formerly led the Community National Bank in Franklin. The Ohio Credit Union League said it expects to meet with Bradford shortly after she takes office.

In announcing Bradford's appointment, the Ohio Department of Commerce cited her "30 years of experience with banks and businesses and in project management" noting also her introduction to the banking community at "Ohio Bankers Day" held June 30 in Columbus.

Media reports said Bradford left Community National Bank last December following its merger with National Bank & Trust of Wilmington, Ohio.

A Department of Commerce spokesman said "credit unions have high priority" in the division with Bradford looking forward to meeting with CU leaders.
