CUNA Mutual Offers Secondary Market Webinars

Credit unions seeking information about how to better use and manage the secondary market for their mortgage operations might find two upcoming webinars from CUNA Mutual helpful.

The insurer will offer "Fundamentals of the Secondary Market" and "Secondary Marketing Economics," for free on July 7 and 8. Alan Bahr, director of secondary markets and national accounts for the insurer's mortgage insurance arm has experience at several Wall Street investment firms, will conduct the sessions, CMG said.

"With investor interest beginning to return, the secondary market presents a vital source of new mortgage loan programs and liquidity that credit unions can't afford to neglect," Bahr said. "CMG MI is a strong supporter of credit union growth, and their active participation in the secondary market is central to that goal."

The Fundamentals of Mortgage Lending, will teach CU lending officers the latest on the mechanics of the secondary market; alternative secondary marketing strategies; types of secondary marketing contracts and their potential risks and rewards; the basics of working with the GSEs and the FHA; and keys to managing secondary requirements, CUNA Mutual said.
