Lawmakers Support Literacy

Getting state lawmakers to join in support of financial literacy projects has become a top priority in 2010 for the $1.3 billion Genisys Credit Union of Auburn Hills, Mich.

Indeed, two state representatives, Eileen Kowall, a Republican, and Tim Melton, a Democrat, took part in Genisys ceremonies last month at two elementary schools to commemorate Youth Financial Literacy Month.

Gensiys, plans to add more schools during the year for lawmaker visits, has found the sessions an effective way to reach lawmakers and promote CU awareness, said Lon Bone, vice president-publications and community involvement.
