Homeless, Youth Center Gets Boost

A new maternity home that serves homeless and runaway youth recently received a 0%, $500,000 construction loan through North Carolina's State Employees' Credit Union's foundation.

The loan will serve the new With Friends Residential Maternity Home in Gaston County, N.C. Through a partnership with North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, the SECU Foundation loan will provide an estimated savings of $30,000 to $40,000 for With Friends Inc., a non-profit serving youth who are homeless, runaways, or in crisis because of family dysfunction or lack of connections with other adults and the community, according to the $1.8 billion CU.

Residents will be provided an individual service plan consisting of housing, education, employment goals, training and other child-related services.
