Golden 1 Plays Johnny Appleseed

The Golden 1 Credit Union is doing its part to encourage members to bring a little green into their lives.

Through April 30, the Sacramento, Calif.-based credit union will plant a tree for every member who pays a bill online or signs up for an eBill through April 30.

The move is designed to not only benefit the environment and community but also help cut expenses.

Over the past year the over $7 billion credit union has increased the adoption of electronic statements from 69% to 82%, which represents 2 million fewer statements mailed annually, 130,000 fewer pounds of paper used and nearly $1 million saved in postage.
