Eastern Corporate Federal Credit Union is now offering credit unions remote deposit capture for the Google Android platform.
The service is offered as a downloadable application developed by the corporate's Vertifi Software LLC subsidiary.
The release follows by five weeks the company's release of a downloadable check capture application for iPhones.
Both applications are a plug-ins that use the smart phone's built-in camera to photograph checks and present them for processing through EasCorp's DeposZip Mobile service.
Checks are processed electronically end-to-end through Vertifi, and deposits are typically posted to members' accounts in real time with immediate access to check images.
The service uses the same platform as the desktop version of DeposZip, launched in 2007. Vertifi now has 48 DeposZip users, and the newest is the $611 million RTN FCU of Waltham, Mass., which signed in February.
EasCorp is based in Burlington, Mass., and now serves 275 credit unions. Vertifi Software was founded last year and provides capture, image cash letter and statement processing services to more than 175 financial institutions, the company said.
