Credit union members whose credit unions participate in the Allpoint surcharge free network may soon enjoy surcharge free ATM access when cruising the high seas.
Cardtronics, the largest independent ATM deployer in the nation and the parent company of the Allpoint network, has signed a deal with the Carnival Cruise Lines. The shipping and travel company claims to carry more passengers than any other and Cardtronics and Allpoint branded machines will be found on five of the line's cruisers. Each ship will feature two ATMs that are located in high traffic areas of the vessel, according to a Cardtronics announcement.
"Cardtronics is excited to venture far from shore with its first ever cruise ship ATM placements," stated Brian Archer, chief marketing officer at Cardtronics. "Providing a reliable and readily available source of cash for Carnival's customers while at sea and in port will help ensure a great experience aboard the Fun Ships' of Carnival, one of the most recognized and respected companies in the vacation and hospitality industry."
"Consumers appreciate easy and convenient access to an ATM while on vacation and it is important that the ATMs on our ships be highly reliable and capable of serving our guests anywhere in the world. Cardtronics meets our high standards and we are pleased to be partnering with them," said Marie McKenzie, vice president of fleet accounting for Carnival Cruise Lines.
Allpoint network claims 37,000 ATMs nationwide and that roughly one third of its participating institutions are credit unions.
