Idaho League Expanding Its Payroll Processing Business

The Idaho Credit Union League is expanding its payroll processing business across the Northwest with a promotion now underway in four states.

The pitch, to small- and medium-size credit unions, is that a league-run service is a means to economize.

Under the expansion into Oregon, Washington and Montana, league officials said they are offering the payroll services through its subsidiary, League Services Inc. Last month the Montana Credit Union System signed on for the program.

All told, eight northwest CUs have now contracted with LSI this year which has been stressing quick turnarounds plus "our special knowledge and understanding of the industry."

LSI has been processing payroll for some 22 Idaho CUs for more than six years "serving those with as few as three employees to as many as 115 and offering accurate, timely and unlimited customer service."

Beverly Smith, accounting manager of LSI, said that several CUs have been able to reduce or eliminate full time staff under the expanded program.
