CitizensFirst Builds Eco-Friendly HQ

Wisconsin is getting its first LEED-certified credit union headquarters building courtesy of CitizensFirst Credit Union.

The credit union has recently broken ground on its new 'green' 30,000-square-foot corporate office.

Mandatory recycling will take place during construction of the building and 75% of construction waste will be diverted from landfills. The new facility will also include bicycle racks and parking for low-emission and fuel-efficient vehicles to encourage alternative forms of transportation that are more environmentally friendly. Construction is slated to be completed by 2010.

According to CitizensFirst CU Board Chairman John Bermingham, the facility simply reinforces the credit union's green philosophy of doing its part to improve the environment.
