RICHARDSON, Texas -- Texans Credit Union has hired Margaret J. Blankers Public Relations Group LLC to be its agency of record.
According to Matthew Davis, executive vice president of the $2 billion Texans CU, "impending personnel issues prevented Texans from including its perspective on some stories over the past year. Now, the credit union is looking forward to being more active in the media."
"With most issues behind us, we'll be able to do a better job of telling Texans' story-both among our credit union colleagues and within our communities," Davis said. "Margaret and her team are seasoned veterans who are respected in the industry, and can work with our internal public relations staff to help keep us on track with the media."
Launched in 2002, Lenexa, Kan.-based MJB PR Group serves credit unions, corporates and CUSOs nationwide with strategic public relations, corporate communications and issues management services.
"Frankly, all credit unions should be out telling our stories in both the local and national arenas," Davis said. "It's especially important today, given the current economy and consumers' concerns. We need to differentiate ourselves from other types of institutions, demonstrating why we're unique and why we're safe. Credit unions have an inherent good reputation, and we should take this opportunity to reach out to consumers and meet their financial needs."
Texans has been embroiled in a series of lawsuits this year involving former executives at several of the credit union's CUSOs.
