Conn. League Offers Aid to Small CUs

MERIDEN, Conn. -- Small area credit unions are getting some help from the Credit Union League of Connecticut.

The league's small credit union task force recently voted to adopt the small credit union support program model created by the Texas Credit Union League.

The program is designed to provide support in the areas of compliance, vendor management, advertising and marketing, ALM and budgeting, and create networking opportunities for smaller asset size credit unions in Connecticut.

To help fund the program, the league has created a dues-discount program, of which up to 5% of a credit union's dues may go to the small credit union support fund.

According to Connecticut league President/CEO Anthony Emerson, "With a majority of credit unions in Connecticut having less than $20 million in assets, it is imperative that our league have plans and programs in place to support their needs and growth."
