Rate Search by Cell Phone Text Offered by Pacific Service Credit Union

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Anyone with a mobile phone and text capability can get the latest rates from Pacific Service Credit Union.

Simply text 60529 with the message "autorate," "cdrate" or "mmrate" (for auto loans, certificates of deposit or money market accounts) and the answer comes back quickly, along with an invitation to find out more at www.pacificservice.org.

For instance, on Oct. 2, the $1.1 billion credit union was offering CDs paying from 2.5% for six months to 4% for five years.

"This new service allows anyone to instantly access our current rates," said Steve Punch, president of Pacific Service CU. "Mobile rate search, combined with the recent launch of our mobile ATM search, provides technology that makes life easier for consumers today."

The new service complements a mobile offering the credit union launched in August that locates the nearest surcharge-free ATM for its 67,000 members. That requires texting an address with city and state to 692667.
