Michigan Credit Union Members Approve Merger

LANSING, Mich. -- The members of Auto Body Workers Credit Union voted unanimously to merge with Auto Body Credit Union.

Auto Body Workers CU is located in Ionia, Mich. and will provide the larger Auto Body Credit Union based in Lansing, Mich., with its first branch location in Ionia County. The $1 million Auto Body Workers has 817 members and Auto Body has $146.7 million in assets and 26,798 members.

The merger has been approved by Michigan's Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation and the NCUA. It will go into effect on Nov. 1m and the two credit unions will operate under the Auto Body Credit Union name.

"We're very excited to welcome the members of ABWCU," said Margo Kleinfelt, president/CEO of Auto Body. "With our shared histories of serving suppliers and workers in the automotive industry, we're certain we can answer their unique needs. We bring an expanded service offering to the ABWCU members and can expand our branches for current ABCU members. We're looking forward to lending a hand in our Ionia members' lives."
