Metro CU, Air Academy FCU Sign Up for DeposZip

BURLINGTON, Mass. -- Two more credit unions have signed up to use the DeposZip remote-deposit capture service from Eastern Corporate Federal Credit Union.

The signings of the $717 million Metro CU of Chelsea, Mass., and the $385 million Air Academy FCU in Colorado Springs, Colo., brings to 23 the number of credit unions that have signed up for the service since it was launched in November 2007, EasCorp said.

The DeposZip service allows preapproved members to use custom-designed screens with the same look and feel as their online banking site to deposit checks the members scan.

EasCorp worked with Financial Service Centers Cooperative of San Dimas, Calif., to offer the service in both real time and batch posting, the former allowing credit unions to save back office time while offering members immediate credit for their deposit.

EasCorp said there now are 17,400 registered users of its service, which it says was the first commercial service of its kind in the industry and that nearly $33.5 million in checks have been processed.
