University FCU Switches To Symitar Processing

AUSTIN, Texas -- University Federal Credit Union will be converting to the Symitar Episys core processing system, the company and credit union said.

The $894 million CU (www.ufcu.org) currently is a USERS client, according to its 5300 Call Report on the NCUA Web site (www.ncua.gov).

Tony Budet, CEO of 122,000-member UFCU, cited the Symitar system's overall functionality and customizability and the company's cultural fit for the decision.

"The search for a new technology platform resulted from a strategic planning session in which we identified six critical priorities for our credit union, three of which were technological in nature, prompting a reevaluation of the core system utilized for 18 years," he said. "Symitar proved to be a good cultural fit for our relationship-oriented credit union."

UFCU will run the system in-house, according to Symitar (www.symitar.com), which said it now has systems in place at more than 600 credit unions.
